SALA Exhibition 2022

After the success of my first SALA exhibition last year, I have been working on a new body of work in preparation for this year’s SALA Festival. This new work focuses on the internal and external forces that influence a woman’s wellbeing. I will be addressing the patriarchal society we live in and highlighting the struggles women face on a daily basis while just trying to live their lives.

This collection could make you uncomfortable, it may even highlight some areas where you need to do better, I know it has for me.

Having open conversations with women and hearing their stories has really helped solidify my need to produce this work. While it is coming from a very personal place, and addressing many issues I have had to personally work through, it is also addressing issues all women face in our society as a whole.

SALA Festival runs the entire month of August and my exhibition will open Saturday Aug 6. Stay tuned for the full list of dates coming soon.

Titled ‘I just wanna dance’ this piece addresses the fact that women often just want to go out and shake their ass with their friends without unwanted attention or touching. We can shake what our mumma’s gave us without it being an invitation.
