This body of work- Are you serious?!?, stemmed from my growing anger and frustration at how women are viewed and treated in society. After asking for input from women I know, I discovered this isn’t a gendered issue, as many of the hurtful comments to women came from the mouths of other women. This just highlighted the effect that the patriarchal society in which we live has on our internal voices and ultimately the words that come out our mouths.

Hopefully this work makes you think, as it has for me, and take note of what your inner voice is saying and maybe stop comments like this from escaping your lips. None of us are perfect, but if we are self aware we can be better everyday. Words can hurt, remember that. F*ck the patriarchy!
